Part Five – Accessories
30 June 2017 by Nicola Manning
The 29th annual International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) has just been held in New York City from 21-24th May. In the previous four blogs I have highlighted the latest trends in furniture, lighting, colour and textures/finishes. This week I am focussing on the trends I saw in accessories.
Crystals – Key Trend
One stand out accessory in New York was crystals. The crystal skull is a very distinctive piece and creates a real talking point!

Key Accessory Colour Trends
The key colours coming through in accessories are the same as we saw in the furniture, green and blue. Stunning glass and ceramic vases in beautiful hues really lift an interior to a new level. The scale of the accessories are generously sized.

Sculptural Accessories
Another key trend is the sculptural style of the accessories. Some of these are white, with texture. Some of them are black, again with texture and sculptural shapes. Others are matt earthy tones.

Flatware
Such stunning colours on show for the flatware, nearly all the colours on the spectrum were on display.

Fur and Sheepskin
You can never underestimate the luxury added to an interior by both fur and sheepskin. Texture and more texture. The large scale of the knitted rug below is beautiful too.

Jonathan Adler Accessories
One of my favourite designers, it was such a treat to visit the Jonathan Adler showroom in Manhattan. Jonathan Adler’s accessories are simply stunning, often quirky and beautiful in detail.

Vases
Terrariums continue to be very popular, one was in a grouping of three on the wall at an ICFF Kitchen Stand, looking great. Bud vases were widely on display too with some gorgeous floral arrangements.
