A tranquil West Auckland home transformed into a sophisticated family retreat with bespoke interiors.

The Brief

Our clients, a busy family with three children, had lived in their Oratia home for seven years before deciding it was time to elevate their living environment. They loved the property’s unique setting in West Auckland, a tranquil lifestyle block surrounded by nature and filled with native bird song, but the interiors no longer reflected how they wanted to live. Their goal was to transform the house into a more sophisticated and functional family home with touches of luxury and timeless style.

Our Role

NM Design provided a full-service interior design solution, guiding the family through every stage of their whole-house renovation. We redesigned the kitchen, specified new timber flooring through the kitchen, family room and entry and refreshed the interiors with new paint, light fittings and carefully chosen door hardware. We created a new family bathroom and laundry and designed custom cabinetry and furniture for the living spaces.

The home’s distinctive hexagonal living and family rooms inspired bespoke leather sectional sofas, which we templated and tailored specifically to the space. Throughout, we layered earthy tones and natural textures, ensuring the design felt connected to the home’s serene surroundings while offering everyday practicality for family life.

The master suite was completely reimagined as a private sanctuary for our clients. We specified all new furniture, including custom bedside tables, drawers and an upholstered headboard, paired with gorgeous textured bedding to create a luxurious layered look. Elegant new drapes and crisp white shutters enhance the light and frame the rural views while the adjoining spaces – a fully renovated ensuite and a redesigned walk-in wardrobe -complete the transformation. The result is a serene, sophisticated retreat that feels both deeply personal and timeless in style.

The transformation is both functional and beautiful. The interiors now have a refined sense of luxury while remaining warm and welcoming for family living.
