Inspired by Nature – How to Combine Two of the Hottest Colour Trends

You may have noticed two very strong trends in both interior design and fashion lately – bronze and inky blues. Both of these trends are beautiful in their own right, but when you combine the two you can create stunning interiors.

As is often the case, we can take such inspiration from nature. The balance of colours, the combination of warm and cool in the beautiful Peacock has inspired me to look at the combination of bronze and copper metallics and peacock blues and greens.

The strong trend of bronze, brass, and copper accessories, lighting and furniture is predicted to last for several more years. There are some stunning pieces available in these metal finishes and they are set off so well against the peacock blues and greens.

Here are four ideas for using this combination in your home:

  1. Dining Room

Dining Rooms are a great room in your home to be more confident with using a stronger colour and these inky moody blues are perfect.

Inky, deep blue combined with a copper pendant, copper accessories and tan leather dining chairs looks fantastic. The contrast is beautiful.

  1. Bedroom

It’s not easy to overheat emotionally and get upset in a ‘cool’ environment – and the color blue has actually been shown to lower our blood pressure and heart rate. This rich blue/green palette is perfect for creating a calm, sophisticated bedroom. The warmth of the metallic colours and textures further adds to the richness and creates perfect balance between the warm and cool colours.

  1. Entrance

An entrance way is an ideal place to use a deep inky wall colour as it is an area where you transition through and gives you an opportunity to make a real statement and be daring!

The walls of this entrance foyer are gorgeous, beautifully glossed and deep in colour. They create a wonderful contrast with the next room, which is light and from what we can see, picks up the same colour in accessories like the lamp. The ceiling has a wonderful metallic bronze finish and the light fitting has the same colouring, which is then picked up in the two stools and around the edge of the mirror. The overall effect is stunning, well balanced and creates such an impact and atmosphere as people enter the apartment.

  1. Bathrooms

Wow! This is a stunning bathroom, the copper bath and basin are amazing and combine brilliantly with the peacock green/blue mosaic wall tiles. There are a number of companies offering copper bathroom fittings. Combined with the rich blue/green colour palette you can create a bathroom with a point of difference and a rich sophisticated look.

The following photos show some other wonderful examples of these two colour trends combined very successfully.
